Cecilia McBride and Story Dornsife want to be royalty at Stephen F. Austin High School — but to do it, the school has had to change the tradition.

He was told he would have to attend “Christian counseling” to change his gender identity.

“This is a military-based town so it’s not always the most welcoming for trans people, but that hasn’t stopped me from being myself.”

Breaking with tradition, Bethesda Chevy-Chase high school will now have students vote for two individuals to be chosen to represent each class, regardless of gender.

Landon Patterson is her school’s first transgender homecoming queen, and one of only a few across the country to be documented.

The Gazette of Colorado Springs reported Saturday that Scarlett Lenh received the majority of the votes from her junior class at Sand Creek High School, besting three other girls for the honor.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 17-year-old senior at East Meck High School in North Carolina has become the state’s first transgender teen to be crowned Homecoming King.
