Out actor Kevin Spacey, who has been the subject of multiple sexual misconduct allegations over the past several years, endorsed Robert Kennedy Jr. for president yesterday, putting him in a small minority of LGBTQ+ people who aren’t supporting President Joe Biden in this election.
And Spacey’s reasoning shows that he doesn’t care much about policy.

The actor, who has been accused of sexual assault and harassment, performed a Shakespearean monologue about a wealthy man betrayed by his friends.

“There’s a lot I can learn from this man,” Spacey wrote, explaining that he supports Kennedy not for the positions outlined in the video but because Kennedy remained his friend as he faced all those sexual misconduct allegations.
“When the world turned its back on me, Bobby leaned in.”
“He’s a formidable fighter for justice and a loyal friend that’s not afraid to stand up for what he believes.”
Spacey was first accused of sexually harassing or assaulting several men – some of whom were minors at the time – in October 2017. Among the accusers was out actor Anthony Rapp, who said that Spacey assaulted him when he was just 14 years old. Rapp later lost his lawsuit against Spacey.
Eight employees from House of Cards also accused Spacey of sexual harassment and assault, and so did several men associated with London’s renowned Old Vic Theatre, where Spacey served for years as artistic director. Twenty people came forward during an investigation by The Old Vic to say that Spacey acted in a sexually inappropriate manner with them before and during his time as artistic director.
Following the theatre’s investigation, various criminal or civil proceedings against Spacey began taking place in multiple jurisdictions. Even a member of the Norwegian royal house accused Spacey of touching him inappropriately without consent.
On X, people mocked Spacey for endorsing Kennedy, either saying that Spacey’s endorsement won’t help Kennedy or that Spacey’s judgement is lacking because of his endorsement.
