Jayson Boebert, the ex-husband of anti-LGBTQ+ Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), has accused her of repeatedly punching him in the face at the Miner’s Claim restaurant in Silt, Colorado on Saturday night. He called the police, but Lauren Boebert has denied the husband’s domestic violence accusations.
Lauren Boebert had reportedly driven to her ex-husband’s house to pick up one of their sons to dine with her at her mother’s house, The Daily Beast reported. As she and her son left towards the car, her ex-husband reportedly “tried to move in close to hug her,” her aide told the publication. Lauren Boebert put her hand on her ex-husband’s chest, but, in the process, “put her hand in his face,” the aide added.

Lauren Boebert left, but later on, he reportedly called her to apologize and asked if they could meet in public. They met at the Miner’s Claim, at which point Jayson Boebert started being a “lewd” “disrespectful” “asshole,” Lauren Boebert’s aide said.

Jayson Boebert allegedly made an “aggressive,” “not romantic” movement towards his ex-wife “to grab her,” the aide added. While he reportedly claimed that she punched him twice in the nose, Lauren Boebert’s aide said, once more, that she merely put her hand on his face to keep him away.
Her ex called the police, and she reportedly stayed at the restaurant to talk with officers. Both she and her ex returned to their separate homes, and police have said that they’re conducting an “active investigation” into what occurred.
“This is a sad situation for all that keeps escalating and another reason I’m moving,” Lauren Boebert said in a statement. “I didn’t punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested. I will be consulting with my lawyer about the false claims he made against me and evaluate all of my legal options.”
“I made a mistake,” Jayson Boebert said in a separate statement. “We both overreacted. I only want what’s best for [the] boys and I still love her very much. We both share some hurt deep down inside… It seems we just keep pushing each other further apart. I want the best for her. It’s probably just best that I remain silent.”
Last May, Lauren Boebert filed for divorce from Jayson Boebert, her husband of 20 years who once exposed himself to two women, one of whom was just 16, in a bowling alley. The couple has four children together, who they allow to play near loaded rifles. The couple also owned a gun-themed restaurant that poisoned 80 people, giving them “abdominal cramping” and “diarrhea.”
In February 2004, a year before they married, Jayson Boebert was booked on a domestic violence charge for allegedly striking, shoving, or kicking Lauren Boebert. In May 2004, Lauren Boebert was charged with third-degree assault, criminal mischief, and underage drinking charges for scratching Jayson Boebert’s face and chest and trashing his residence.
Lauren Boebert is the third most responsible person driving anti-LGBTQ+ hate speech on Twitter. Among her many bigoted statements, she has accused LGBTQ+ people of “spitting in God’s face,” “butchering” children, and “perverting” the nation.
Last November, Lauren Boebert narrowly won re-election in her district by just 547 votes. Afterward, she made headlines by vaping and groping inside a theater near children during a live performance of the musical Beetlejuice. Facing a looming re-election loss, she recently decided to run for re-election in a different district to increase her chances of success, but her plan is already backfiring as other state Republicans oppose her.
