Anti-LGBTQ+ Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) allegedly spent campaign funds in August to attend a Colorado bike race that her then-boyfriend competed in. She and her boyfriend had kept their relationship a “secret,” according to The Daily Mail, until he was discovered groping her in a theater last September.

Her questionable and possibly illegal use of campaign funds is just her latest, as she’s recently been caught spending donor funds on other personal expenses, something that’s forbidden by the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

FEC records show that Boebert paid $339.94 in campaign funds for “event tickets” to the August 12 Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike Race. Boebert’s then-boyfriend, bar owner Quinn Gallagher, competed in the race and placed 774th out of 1,788 competitors. While it’s unclear if she had done any campaigning at the race, if she didn’t, it could violate FEC rules.

In November, Politico revealed that Boebert spent nearly $450 in campaign funds during her July 31 visit to Gallagher’s Aspen bar, the Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar, a trans-inclusive venue that hosts drag shows, which is notable since Boebert has often accused drag performers of “child abuse.”

In September 2021, CNN revealed that Boebert had spent $6,650 in campaign funds to pay rent and utilities for her now-closed gun-themed restaurant Shooters Grill in Rifle, Colorado. The restaurant once poisoned 80 people, giving them “abdominal cramping” and “diarrhea.”

Boebert called the 2021 use of campaign funds “an error” which she later reimbursed. However, a campaign finance official called the expense a “flagrant violation” of FEC rules.

Last September, Gallagher fondled Boebert’s breasts around children at a musical theater performance of Beetlejuice. When told to leave after illegally vaping and photographing inside the theater, she flipped her middle finger at the usher and yelled, “Do you know who I am?” Her fellow Colorado Republicans have said her behavior should cause her to lose her next election.

Boebert is the third most responsible person driving anti-LGBTQ+ hate speech on Twitter. Among her many bigoted statements, Boebert has accused LGBTQ people of “spitting in God’s face,” “butchering” children, and “perverting” the nation.

Boebert narrowly won her November 2022 re-election campaign by just 547 votes.
