Ellen DeGeneres faced criticism yet again…but this time people online came to her defense.
She posted a picture of herself on Twitter at the Super Bowl this weekend with the words, “Here we GO #SuperBowl.”

Ellen has had a rough past two years with public criticism. Some of it has been for serious issues, like allegations that producers who worked on her show sexually harassed others who worked under them. Some of it has been more superficial, like that she’s “mean” in-person or that every guest on her show doesn’t get a private bathroom.
And, now, some people attacked her again for not wearing a mask at the public sporting event.
No mask ? Covid is finished there ?

Where’s your mask??? If my kids have to wear masks at school all day long at school why are you exempt from the rules???

Where’s your mask?? What will you do if someone makes eye contact with you? I’m surprised you’re with all the people you consider below you!!!

But others have jumped to her defense, pointing out that the NFL took safety measures like requiring a negative antigen test from the previous 24 hours, a negative PCR test from the previous 48 hours to get in, or a vaccination. Fans were required to wear masks for the outdoor event but could take them off to eat or drink.
Others wondered if she just took her mask off for a moment to take a selfie.
And some people were just tired of the constant criticism.
If I was going to take a picture of myself at the Super Bowl, I would take my mask off for a minute. Otherwise, why bother taking the picture?

Enjoy the game!! PS-ignore the haters. Cause the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate & the players gonna play, play, play, play, play. I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake. I shake it off, “shake it off!”.

Or maybe just maybe she took it off to take a picture 😮 orrrrrrr she was sitting in the cheap stadium section😵💫 AND wait, whoever she was with were fully vaccinated recently tested for COVID, negative and chose not to mask

I don’t understand, if you wear a mask, you get criticized, if you don’t wear a mask, you get criticized.

“Seriously, can we leave Ellen alone for just one second?” wrote Graham Gremore at LGBTQ Nation‘s sibling site Queerty. “We get that she’s problematic and that a lot of people really, really don’t like her, but let the woman be.”
“At this point, she’s suffered enough.”
