Donald Trump has been relentlessly mocked for falling asleep in court on day one of his hush money trial, and now the Biden Administration has joined in on the fun.
The Biden-Harris team released a memo posted by the campaign’s youth coordinator, Victor Shi, decrying the Trump campaign’s stance on abortion — and the text is littered with references to what one site referred to as the “Nap Heard Round The World.”

The trolling begins with the memo’s title, which references both Trump’s nap and his alleged relationship with adult film star Stormy Daniels (which is central to the trial): “Wake Up Donald: After Stormy Abortion Ban Coverage, Trump Poll Memo Attempts to Hush Panic.”

The memo then discussed the Trump campaign’s furious scramble to “try and hush the awful coverage out of Arizona — and fallout from Trump’s endorsement of every extreme abortion ban in states around the country.”
And it managed to critique Trump for decimating reproductive rights while simultaneously dragging him for his behavior in court: “Trump’s campaign is fast asleep about a simple fact, underscored by recent polling: the vast majority of the American people… support federal protections for reproductive freedom.”
The memo concluded with an all-caps demand by Biden-Harris 2024 spokesperson James Singer: “Open your eyes and WAKE UP, Donald. We’ll tell you what your pollsters won’t: The women of America will not be gaslit into forgetting what you’ve done, and you will face the consequences at the ballot box this November.”
All eyes are on New York this week as 77-year-old Trump’s criminal trial begins. Trump is being tried for 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection to hush money payments he made to silence stories of extramarital affairs he allegedly had with Stormy Daniels and at least one other woman.
Yesterday, New York Times senior political correspondent Maggie Haberman told CNN that during the trial, “Trump appeared to be asleep.”
“His head would fall down… He didn’t pay attention to a note his lawyer passed him. His jaw kept falling on his chest and his mouth kept going slack.” Haberman also noted that Trump seemed to have fallen asleep at other recent trials as well.
Photographers didn’t capture images of Trump dozing off, possibly because they were only allowed in the courtroom at the start of the trial.
Democratic observers took notice of Trump’s apparent drowsiness, as Trump has previously called Biden “Sleepy Joe,” “senile” and “physically and mentally weak” — even though Biden remains physically active and is only four years older than Trump.
