On possibly one of his last days in Congress, out Rep. George Santos (R-NY) decided to pose next to the extremely anti-LGBTQ+ Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) famous transphobic sign and post a video to social media about it.

“Hey boys and girls, trust the science. Two genders!” Santos said, standing next to the sign.

Greene posted the sign in front of her congressional office in early 2021 to stick it to then-Rep. Marie Newman (D-IL), who is the mother of a transgender child. Since then, Greene’s sign has been stolen and vandalized many times, which enraged Greene on multiple occasions because she believed the Department of Justice wasn’t doing enough to stop the vandalism.

Santos befriended Greene early in his time in the House and has supported several pieces of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, most of which attacked transgender equality.

Science does not say that there are only two genders. Greene has long opposed listening to science on a variety of issues.

But there was something rather campy about Santos doing a peace sign in front of the hateful message, and the internet had a field day mocking him.
