Out teen pop star-turned-reality TV personality JoJo Siwa posted a video to TikTok this weekend laughing at an interview she gave when she was 15 in which she was asked if she had “any boyfriends.” Siwa is now 20-years-old.
“Well, for me, the answer is just no,” 15-year-old Siwa stammered in the audio.

Siwa did not hold back.
“I don’t have time. I — I can’t be, I can’t be— right now,” she said. “It’s just not… it’s not for me. It’s not my time right now. I don’t need it. There’s really no one. I had a crush on somebody….”

Siwa laughed as the audio played and the caption said, “Good morning from me and this audio of me at age 15 trying not to come out when asked in an interview ‘Any boyfriends?'”
The clip shows that, despite conservatives’ bizarre belief that teens and children are being pressured to say that they’re LGBTQ+, it’s LGBTQ+ people who are often pressured to perform heterosexuality for the benefit of others. The interviewer, according to Siwa, didn’t ask if she had a significant other but specifically asked about boyfriends without even knowing if Siwa was straight.
Siwa became a household name following her appearances on the reality show Dance Moms and on several Nickelodeon shows and her several teeny-bopper pop hits like “Boomerang” and “#1U.” She came out in early 2021 and has since lived out and proud, even becoming one-half of the first same-sex duo on the long-running show Dancing with the Stars.
