Azealia Banks has attacked Troye Sivan in a bizarre rant calling the out singer an “expired twink” and accusing him of “perpetuating” pedophilia.
During an interview posted on Spotify’s official TikTok channel earlier this week, Sivan was asked to name his “go-to pregame banger.” The “Rush” singer responded by shouting out Banks’s 2011 hit “212,” a catchy, drum-heavy 2012 song in which she trash-talks an unknown man and his girlfriend.

Did Azealia Banks just dig up her dead cat & eat it? It looks like it.
“The cat is in the bag!” said in a video where she appears to boil the feline’s body.
Banks responded by posting a screenshot from the interview in her Instagram stories along with a rant laced with homophobia and transphobia that echoed right-wing narratives falsely associating LGBTQ+ people with pedophilia.

“This is these white kids’ weird way of apologizing for bandwagoning,” she wrote. “Having no clue of the kind of sh*t happening to me behind the scenes in the industry.”
“I’m not impressed by any of these people (who I’ve never met in person nor had a conversation with me) Not [sic] having the audacity to be as public and loud with their apology as they were with using their platform to cast judgment as if a singular me was an important social justice issue,” she continued. “I would REALLY appreciate all of these f**kin civilian ass b**ches to stop mentioning me, stop dancing to my s**t in the club if you’re not going to treat me like a human and take back all the unfounded bulls**t you all used ur platforms to perpetuate.”
According to @AzealiaNews, a Banks fan account on X, the rapper was likely referring to comments Sivan made during a 2018 appearance on the Zach Sang Show podcast. Asked about rappers he would like to collaborate with, the “My My My” singer mentioned Banks.
“I mean, I was a huge Azealia Banks fan, but that all went south a little bit,” Sivan explained. “It’s just one of those annoying things where it’s like, you just wanna support [her] so bad and it just doesn’t work out like that.”
While Sivan did not elaborate at the time, he may have been referring to Banks’s history of anti-gay comments both online and in person. The rapper, who identifies as bisexual, has used anti-gay slurs to refer to other pop stars, as well as in a 2015 altercation with a flight attendant. She also compared the LGBTQ+ community to the KKK in 2015, and endorsed former president Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. In recent years, she has been widely criticized for transphobic remarks.
Banks escalated her personal attack on Sivan this week in a second post to her Instagram stories, calling the singer “a late condescending expired Twink [sic],” and lobbing incendiary, unfounded allegations straight out of the anti-LGBTQ+ playbook.
“Trying ur hardest to hold on to the f**king weak ass pedophilia x incest aesthetic — perpetuating that underlying double standard that somehow pedophilia practiced amongst men is somehow okay… that fueled ur trash ass music in the first place,” she wrote.
She went on to insult Sivan’s looks and characterized coming out as transgender as a “grift.”
“Give it up, puberty hit that ass and made u a doofy looking young man,” she wrote. “I bet he’ll pull the grift ‘come out’ as trans next.”
Sivan has not responded to Banks’s comments.
