Da Brat and wife Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart welcomed their first child together last week. People reports that the Grammy-nominated out rapper gave birth to the couple’s new baby boy on July 6 in Atlanta.

“I can’t BELIEVE he came out of me!” Da Brat told the outlet. “Feels like a dream. He’s PERFECT in every way.”

So perfect, in fact, that Harris-Dupart said the couple briefly considered changing their son’s name. “His name had been True Legend Harris-Dupart but now that we’ve met him we are tempted to name him PERFECT,” the Kaleidoscope Hair Products CEO said.

Da Brat told People that she’s feeling “very appreciative for such a blessing of our bundle of joy.”

“This journey has been more amazing than we could’ve ever imagined,” she continued.

Da Brat, whose 1994 debut album Funkdafied made her the first-ever solo female rapper to have a certified platinum-selling album, came out as bisexual in 2020. She previously discussed her journey to motherhood back in February, telling People that she never expected to have kids of her own.

“I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me,” the then-48-year-old said.

But meeting Harris-Dupart, who was already a mother of three from a previous relationship, changed all that. The couple married in February 2022. “I was like, I want a little me with you,” Da Brat said. “Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally.”

Still, Da Brat said she was hesitant about pregnancy. “I was like, nothing’s gonna come out of me!” she said.

Harris-Dupart, however, managed to convince the “Not Tonight” rapper to carry the pregnancy, conceived via IVF with an egg from Harris-Dupart and sperm from an anonymous donor. “I felt like she should have the experience,” Harris-Dupart said. “She is so nurturing.”

Over the weekend, the couple, who star in the WeTV reality series Brat Loves Judy, shared video from the delivery room, including the moment when True Legend was born.
