Election 2024

Sarah Palin is already claiming voter fraud for an election that hasn’t happened yet

Former Alaska governor and vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin (R) is running for Congress. During her time in the political sphere, Palin was frequently mocked for her inane statements and ridiculous claims.

But this time she may have hit a new high. She’s claiming voter fraud happened in the election that hasn’t even happened yet and that’s why she will lose.

The death of Rep. Don Young (R) in March made Alaska’s sole Congressional seat an open race for the first time in nearly half a century.

While “I’m going to lose!” doesn’t seem like a winning strategy, Palin is already expected to handily lose the race. Alaskans are skeptical of the former governor.

“I think she’s out of touch with Alaskans right now,” one local told Alaska Public Media. “Yeah, I don’t think that the people here — we don’t take her very seriously.”

Indeed, the polling for Palin is pretty bleak. While there is no polling on the race itself, there is polling on Palin’s popularity. According to Anchorage pollster Ivan Moore, last October 31 percent of Alaskans viewed Palin positively. A whopping 56 percent viewed her negatively.

With dozens of candidates vying for the seat, Palin is sure that something shady is afoot. The largely rural state uses mail-in ballots to accommodate those who can’t make it to a polling place and has an extended period for them to be returned since many locals are out to sea on fishing boats or working in remote areas of the state. Ballots are mailed to every listed voter.

Palin started defending her upcoming loss with Fox News’ Mark Levin, and, of course, it’s not her fault. It’s Dominion Voting Services’ fault. Former president Donald Trump’s supporters also blamed the vote tabulation company for his election loss despite overwhelming evidence that nothing untoward happened.

“It’s mail-in only ballots,” she complained. “No hand counting to tabulate, got to go through a Dominion computer to count everything.”

Paper ballots can be recounted. They are routinely inspected and recounted by hand in contested or close elections nationwide.

“And I- like, yesterday, Mark, I received four ballots in the mail. I didn’t even ask for any ballots. One for one of the daughters who doesn’t live here. She hasn’t claimed residency in Alaska since she moved outside – we call anything outside of Alaska ‘outside,'” she continued.

“Oh, this is the other bizarre thing though, Mark,” she said before describing the system working exactly the way it was supposed to. “So everybody’s voting right now in Alaska. Ballots are pouring in even though people aren’t asking for the ballots, but they’re being mailed to everybody.”

“The election isn’t until June eleventh, but you vote now, and then I guess, what you got like six weeks of wasting donor’s money, campaigning trying to woo people who’ve already voted. It’s a bizarre system up here.”

Republicans nationwide have tried to dismantle early voting and vote-by-mail options meant to spur citizen participation in government. The options have increased the ability of Democratic voters to cast a ballot, spurring the GOP to make false claims of voter fraud. Trump did the same thing and Palin simply seems to be trying to emulate the MAGA leader in a desperate attempt to woo his supporters.
