Legendary actor Lynda Carter stood up for transgender people and explained the importance of affirming people’s identities on social media today.
Her positive words come just after J.K. Rowling tweeted about trans women being rapists, leading many of Wonder Woman’s fans to conclude that she was subtweeting the über-wealthy Harry Potter author.

“You don’t have to be trans to understand the importance of respecting trans people and affirming their identities,” Carter tweeted.
“Life is just too short. I can’t imagine how it makes any sense to use one’s fame and resources to put others down.”
It's always nice when your childhood hero is still a hero.

Thank you, so much. As a child who loved you as Wonder Woman and grew up listening to your first album, thank you. You showed me the kind of woman I wanted to be once I transitioned: kind, loving and compassionate.

I would love to play twenty questions with Rowling while she was tied up with Wonder Woman's magic laso.

If I were in Rowling’s position I’d just be normally promoting the upcoming movie and stuff. It’s wild that she’s going full Lineham.

It’s lifesaving to respect our identities and our pronouns. Deny our existence and our very lives come under attack.
