Tens of thousands of people have signed a petition begging James Corden to stay out of the upcoming movie adaptation of the hit musical Wicked.

After Corden’s performances in practically every musical-turned-movie production of the past decade, fans are pleading, “we have suffered enough.”

Corden’s roles in Cats and The Prom were particularly savaged. The actor, who identifies as straight and is an LGBTQ ally, played a gay character in a flamboyant way deemed “borderline offensive” by critics.

“James Corden in no way shape or form should be in or near the production of Wicked the movie,” Mikel Miller posted on Change.org with a petition to Universal Studios. “That’s pretty much it.”

Almost 50,000 people have agreed with Miller’s apt summation, signing on to his petition and leaving their reasons for signing.

“James Corden is basically a dumpster brought to life,” Jacob Oaklyn wrote.

“James is evil just like Ellen,” Matt Clark boldly asserted. “This plague on society has to end.”

“It’s for the greater good,” Katherine Jones asserted.

In 2018, the host of The Late Late Show, and father of three, said that his then-six-year-old son Max had never asked about gay relationships.

“They haven’t brought it up, but we have lots of gay friends – like our friends Chris and Mark – who have come over a lot and stayed with us,” he said. “I think my son has never questioned it as it’s always been there.”

“And if he did, I would know what those answers were, which is that these are simply two men that really love each other in the same way I love Mummy and Grandma loves Grandad and that’s it.”

Ariana Grande has been announced in the role of Glinda the Good Witch in the movie while Cynthia Erivo will play Elphaba.
