Aussie Prime Minister: Parliament will not break for holidays until marriage equality passes

Malcolm Turnbull isn’t screwing around any more. Australia’s Prime Minister has given Parliament an ultimatum: Legalize same-sex marriage before Christmas or miss the holidays with your families.

Turnbull, a marriage equality support, has faced recalcitrant members of his own conservative party as well as domestic political turmoil as he tries to fulfill his promise that gays and lesbians will be able to marry by Christmas.

A nationwide vote on whether or not to legalize same-sex marriage came back overwhelmingly in favor of equality and the obligatory elaborate wedding proposals have already started.

Turnbull has pledged not to allow a discriminatory bill to get through that would have allowed “religious freedom” exceptions.
