Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt asked a “gotcha” question to two Republican 2016 hopefuls on Thursday: whether or not they would attend a same-sex wedding.

Rick Santorum said he would not attend such a ceremony. Ted Cruz dodged the question entirely.

“That would be something that would be a violation of my faith,” Santorum said.

Ted Cruz didn’t answer the question with a yes or no. “I haven’t faced that circumstance. I have not had a loved one go to a, have a gay wedding,” he said.

The questions came after Sen. Marco Rubio, who like Santorum and Cruz opposes same-sex marriage, was asked during an interview on Fusion whether or not he would attend a same-sex wedding ceremony of a loved one despite his stance on the issue.
