Liberty Counsel is a non-profit public interest law firm and ministry that promotes “Christian religious liberty, the sanctity of human life, and the traditional family,” and is headed by attorney Mathew D. Staver. [ Wikipedia ]

Liberty Counsel devotes much of its time to fighting against same-sex marriage, civil unions, and adoption by LGBT parents. It opposes efforts to prohibit employment discrimination against LGBT workers, and opposes ‘the addition of “sexual orientation,” “gender identity” or similar provisions’ to hate crimes legislation. The Southern Poverty Law Center lists the Liberty Counsel as being one of twelve groups comprising an “anti-gay crusade.”

Anti-gay groups call for Target boycott over retailer’s support for gay marriage

A number of anti-gay groups are calling for nationwide boycotts of Target after the chain signed on to a legal brief supporting marriage equality. The National Organization for Marriage, the Liberty Counsel and American Decency Association say the company's public support for same-sex marriage is a "slap in the face to millions of pro-family customers."

Calling yourself a Christian does not give you special privileges in this country. Calling yourself a Christian does not make you a better American than me. And calling yourself a Christian does not absolve you from rights and responsibilities that all Americans have. This is not, nor has it ever been, a Christian nation, and the rest of us who don’t practice your beliefs do not exist here for your will and pleasure.

Seven more groups now designated by SPLC as anti-gay hate groups

The Southern Poverty Law Center has added seven more anti-gay organizations to its list of anti-gay hate groups. No doubt the standard whine of these groups will be the same one offered up by the Family Research Council when SPLC named it as a hate group a while back, i.e. “we are being attacked because we don’t believe in gay marriage, we are trying to preserve Christian morality, we are being silenced.” That whine was a lie then and is still a lie...
