COON RAPIDS, Minn. — The Anoka-Hennepin school board, which oversees the state’s largest school district, has adopted a new policy that replaces a policy that required teachers to stay neutral in matters relating to sexual orientation — a policy critics called a “gag rule” that constrained teachers from dealing with harassment and bullying of LGBT students.

State of Tennessee cuts access to grants for HIV testing, prevention
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center was forced to suspend its HIV testing program Wednesday after a representative from Planned Parenthood informed the center that it does not have the funds necessary to provide the HIV testing for the foreseeable future.

Washington state Senate approves marriage equality bill
The Washington state Senate on Wednesday evening voted 28-21 in favor of SB 6239, a bill that would legalize same-sex marriage. The bill, garnering three more votes than the required 25, passed with bipartisan support of 23 Democrats and four Republicans, and now moves to the House, where it already has enough support to pass.
