Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) recently expressed regret that Republicans did not succeed at stealing the 2020 election from President Joe Biden.

At a Monday town hall, Greene bragged about helping to spearhead an impeachment inquiry into Biden, telling members of the audience, “If I had it my way, we would’ve impeached him a long time ago.”

Then she realized she could envision an even better scenario for herself: “Actually, if I had it my way, we would have been successful in our objection on January 6th and he wouldn’t even be president.” She then stood with a smug smile while folks quietly applauded.

Greene is one of several Congressional Republicans who have been accused of helping plan the 2021 Capitol Insurrection.

Anonymous sources involved in the insurrection told Rolling Stone in 2021 that they participated in “dozens” of planning sessions to stop Biden’s 2020 election win from being certified and said that even elected officials talked with them leading up to the attack.

“I remember Marjorie Taylor Greene specifically,” one source said. “I remember talking to probably close to a dozen other members at one point or another or their staffs.”

Greene’s communications director denied the accusation that she was involved in planning the insurrection.

Greene has repeatedly downplayed the attack on the Capitol that left five people dead and 114 police officers injured. She has defended the accused insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol building that day and has condemned the conditions they’ve been held in. Her advocacy on prison conditions has only been about the MAGA rioters.

Greene also testified in front of the congressional committee investigating the January 6 riot and claimed that her rhetoric about a “stolen” election and the dangers of Democrats had no effect on the crowd’s beliefs. She also denied that members of her staff gave the rioters personal tours of the Capitol building shortly before the insurrection.

Greene also allegedly asked for a pardon from then-President Trump after the insurrection, which seems to insinuate she was involved.

As recently as March of this year, she stood up for an anti-LGBTQ+ lawyer who once represented Donald Trump and has been accused of conspiring with the former president to overturn the 2020 election.

Regardless of her role or responsibility, Greene’s remarks on Monday reiterate she stands by the big lie peddled by team MAGA that the 2020 election was fraudulent and Trump is the rightful president.

Many mocked this delusional thinking on X and called her out for essentially admitting she was involved in trying to overthrow a democratically elected president.
