Lil Nas X has responded to homophobic jokes Dave Chappelle made about him in his latest Netflix special.
In The Dreamer, which dropped on the streaming platform last weekend, the comedian spewed plenty of his usual anti-trans rhetoric. But he also took some shots at the “Industry Baby” rapper.

The anti-trans comedian vowed not to joke about trans people, then proceeded to make several blatantly transphobic jokes.
Chappelle described meeting Lil Nas X for the first time “at a party” where the rapper “was dressed like C-3PO.” While the comedian didn’t specify when the encounter took place, Lil Nas X did make headlines for attending the 2021 Met Gala in a gold suit of armor—though Chappelle does not appear to have attended that event.

“I had no idea who he was,” Chappelle said of Lil Nas X. “But the minute he walked in that party, I knew I was in his dream.”
Chappelle claimed that the “Old Town Road” singer told him that he’d tried to get him to appear in one of his music videos.
“You know what video,” Chappelle claimed the rapper told him before walking away. “I said, ‘Man, this [n-word] is having a very powerful dream.’”
Chappelle then went on an extended riff about a grade school teacher asking Black students what they want to be when they grow up, leading into Lil Nas X’s answer.
“That [n-word] stood up in front of the whole class, ‘I want to be the gayest [n-word] that ever lived,’” Chappelle said. “‘I want to do a music video, slide down a stripper pole, all the way to the depths of hell, and suck the devil’s d**k at ten o’clock on BET while all the kids are awake and can see me!’”
“Shockingly, that was the only dream that worked out,” Chappelle said.
The comedian was referring to the controversial video for Lil Nas X’s 2021 single “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name).”
On Wednesday, the rapper, who recently announced that he has pivoted back to Christianity, brushed off Chappelle’s lame attempt to clown him.
“Yall gotta let call me by your name go,” he wrote in an X post. “Me and the devil broke up 3 years ago. yall acting like children of divorce.”
