Donald Trump is selling Christmas wrapping paper & stockings featuring his mugshot

Apparently, nothing says “tidings of comfort and joy” to the MAGA faithful like the scowling face of a fame-hungry real estate con man turned proto-fascist.

At a rally Tuesday night in Waterloo, Iowa, former President Donald Trump appeared on a seasonally decorated stage strewn with lights and garland, Christmas trees, presents, and stockings. But as The Hill pointed out, all that holiday paraphernalia had a distinctly Trumpian theme. Several gift boxes and stockings featured images of Trump’s infamous Georgia mugshot.

It seems that the event was not only meant to stir up excitement among Trump’s loyal acolytes; it was also a marketing opportunity. Along with MAGA Christmas ornaments and ball caps, the Trump campaign is currently selling the mugshot wrapping paper and stockings that decorated the stage in Iowa.

The wrapping paper features a black-and-white version of the mugshot, with a red Santa hat superimposed on Trump’s head. The stockings feature a full-color version of the mugshot, and both items include the words “Never Surrender,” despite the inclusion of a photo taken when Trump surrendered himself to police.

The mugshot was taken in August, when the former president turned himself in at an Atlanta jail to face arraignment on 13 criminal charges related to the alleged conspiracy to falsify Georgia’s 2020 election results and steal the state’s electoral votes. Trump is the first and only U.S. president ever to have had a police booking photo taken.

The mugshot was quickly shared across social media. It has been used in memes and has become a symbol of Trump’s supposed persecution, according to his supporters.

The same day that the photo was taken, Trump used it to try to raise funds for his 2024 presidential campaign. “Today, I walked into the lion’s den with one simple message on behalf of our entire movement: I WILL NEVER SURRENDER OUR MISSION TO SAVE AMERICA,” he wrote in a message on his official campaign website. “If you can, please make a contribution to evict Crooked Joe Biden from the White House and SAVE AMERICA during this dark chapter in our nation’s history.”

The Trump campaign has also plastered the mugshot and the words “Never Surrender” on plenty of other merch, including t-shirts, beer koozies, and coffee mugs. Trump has also offered to sell supporters pieces of the blue suit he wore in the mugshot.

“Why is Donald selling the clothes off his back? Maybe it’s because he can’t afford his ever-mounting legal bills,” the former president’s niece, Mary Trump, wrote in a December 12 X post.
