Marjorie Taylor Greene ranted about Joe Biden helping the middle class. He made it into an ad.

When Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) made a speech against President Joe Biden at a conservative political conference this past weekend, she probably didn’t expect Biden to use it as a campaign ad for himself. But it turned out that her speech really made Biden sound hardworking and terrific.

While speaking at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in West Beach, Florida on Sunday, Greene called Biden a “Democrat socialist” and said that his multi-billion dollar Build Back Better initiative to strengthen U.S. infrastructure was looking to complete the 1960s-era “Great Society” policies of former President Lyndon B. Johnson.

“The Great Society were big government programs to address education, medical care, urban problems, rural poverty, transportation, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps and welfare,” Greene said in her speech. “Now, LBJ had the Great Society, but Joe Biden had Build Back Better, and [Biden] still is working on it. The largest public investment in social infrastructure and environmental programs that is actually finishing what FDR started that LBJ expanded on and Joe Biden is attempting to complete.”

While most Democrats and progressives see these efforts as positive and worthwhile, Republicans and conservatives like Greene might consider them evidence of a “big government” “nanny state” that “wastes taxpayer dollars” to handle problems that could be addressed by private businesses or state and local governments. Republicans often call such programs a form of European-style “socialism” that is “un-American.”

Regardless, Greene’s speech caught the attention of the White House, which included the above segment from Greene’s speech in a Monday tweet that read, “Caught us. President Biden is working to make life easier for hardworking families.”

Biden then used audio from Greene’s speech in an Instagram video that he posted on Tuesday evening on his Instagram account along with the caption, “I approve this message,” the usual phrase that runs at the end of official political ads on TV.

Numerous political commentators have pointed out that Biden and other Democrats have increasingly highlighted Greene’s words and actions to make her the face of the modern Republican party. The politician is rabidly anti-LGBTQ+ and has a “miserable” congressional record, according to Newsweek, with only a few of the hundreds of bills she has sponsored actually being signed into law.

She was removed from all her House committee assignments in 2021 for pushing conspiracy theories online including ones that proclaimed that all school shootings are fake, that California wildfires may have been started by a Jewish-owned space laser, and that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton once sliced off a child’s face and wore it.

Greene was recently kicked out of the House’s far-right Freedom Caucus after referring to fellow Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) as a “little b**ch.” She has also previously called Biden a pedophile, described D.C. Pride as “Sodom and Gomorrah,” and called student-athletes “trans terrorists.”

Despite her toxicity, her words have proved sweet enough to endorse the commander-in-chief.
