Fox host Jesse Watters may have replaced former star Tucker Carlson, but his mom has some concerns that her “honey bun” is about to fall down the same conspiracy-driven well of hatefulness that swallowed his racist predecessor.

And when she called into his new show last night, she didn’t hesitate to tell him exactly what she thought. Even better, she did it like only a mom can.

Watters has admitted that his mom, a former teacher, is a Democrat who pushes back on his extreme conservative talking points during family gatherings. She regularly texts him during his shows. But after a segment where he claimed that she was ignorant of “what the news is” because she reads the New York Times, she called in to give him some advice.

“I want to say congratulations, honey bun, we are so proud of you and your accomplishments and you’ve worked so hard. Now let’s aim to have you keep your job. To that end, I do have some suggestions,” she started, before noting that she has a list.

“Do not tumble into any conspiracy rabbit holes. We do not want to lose you and we want no lawsuits. I have a list here. In keeping with the Hippocratic Oath, do no harm. We need you to be kind and respectful. You yourself mentioned that humble is a stretch, so I get that,” she snarked. “Use your voice responsibly to promote conversation that maintains a narrative thread.”

And then, referring to a previous segment on transgender children that was full of misinformation and disgusting insinuations, she continued, saying, “Perhaps you could suggest that your people take less interest, for example, in other people’s bodies and talk about that.”

“Wait,” Watters tried to interject. “We’re trying to keep other people’s interest away from children’s bodies. That was the point of that segment,” he claimed as his mom made the tsk-tsk noise no child doesn’t want to hear. She didn’t believe him.

Watters tried to cut her off, interjecting, “Mom…” but she wasn’t done and admonished him to “Wait.”

“I want you to seek solutions versus fanning the flames,” she scolded him.

“You could encourage that Bedminster friend of yours to return to his earlier career on television,” she suggested. “Everyone in the audience could wear a red hat. And I’m sure the ratings would soar.”

“Although never as high, my darling, as yours.”

And with that, she told him she loved him and wished him good luck on his new show.
