Cher reportedly postpones wedding from 36-year-old boyfriend Alexander Edwards

Beloved pop diva Cher, age 77, has either postponed her wedding plans with her 36-year-old boyfriend, music executive Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, or broken up with him completely, according to differing reports on two celebrity gossip websites.

On Monday morning, RadarOnline reported that Cher had delayed their wedding plans “after loved ones warned” that Edwards may be “using her to advance his own career” or was otherwise “a threat to her $380 million fortune.” The website quoted “insiders” who claimed that Edwards wanted Cher “to record two albums under his direction,” but the legendary star reportedly “chafed at his bossy attitude in the recording studio” as he “barked orders” at her.

Radar noted that Cher “was recently caught on camera in Los Angeles with no sign of the massive diamond ring given by Edwards.”

Rumors of their engagement flew around social media after Cher posted an image of a diamond ring on Twitter last December. Cher’s post included an image of a sparkling ring in a black box. She wrote, “There r no words, Alexander, A.E.” Numerous fans congratulated her, asked whether he had proposed, and suggested that she get a pre-nuptial agreement to protect her riches in case of a divorce.

On Monday evening, the celebrity gossip site TMZ announced that Cher and Edwards “called it quits on their relationship, and were never even engaged, despite multiple reports to the contrary,” citing “sources close to the former couple.”

Referencing that Twitter post of the diamond ring, TMZ wrote, “We’re told the two just decided to play into the speculation it was an engagement ring.” Cher hasn’t posted on her Twitter or Instagram social media accounts since March 11.

Paparazzi photographed Cher and Edwards in November 2022 holding hands as they entered the West Hollywood restaurant Craig’s. The photographers also noticed Edwards “delicately kissing Cher’s hand while they were in a car,” the gossip site Page Six noted.

At the time, numerous web commenters noted that the two are 40 years apart in age. However, Cher told critics to leave them alone because “we’re Happy & Not Bothering Anyone.” She eventually confirmed their relationship in a Vogue magazine interview.

Of course, Twitter commenters were quick to warn Cher nonetheless. Apparently tired of the chatter, Cher wrote, “Haven’t You Got Anything Else 2 Do⁉️ Let Me Explain…I DONT GIVE A FK WHAT ANYONE THINKS.”

Last November, another unnamed told US Weekly, “Cher knows full well that there’s a lot of skepticism about this romance but she couldn’t care less. She’s reveling in the attention and saying that she and A.E. have something very special going on that’s made her feel more alive and sexier than ever.”
