Far-right evangelical columnist Erick Erickson believes MAGA Republicans are so against Biden and the Democrats that if Biden came out in support of oxygen, they would simply “hold their breath and die.”
Biden could “annihilate a significant portion of his opposition” with this plan, he wrote, saying that many members of what he called “the new right” are staunchly committed to being against whatever Democrats support.
“If Joe Biden is for it,” Erickson continued, “they must absolutely, positively be against it.”
Erickson also discussed his belief that saying the Capitol insurrection on January 6, 2021, was a worse day than September 11, 2001, is a sign of “political brokenness.”

“Politically, okay, sure, I understand your point,” he said. “But as an act of ‘terrorism?’ Really? Donald Trump, bull in the china shop, broke many things, including the brains of many of his opponents,” Erickson said. “His chief skill was making others become and behave exactly as they claim he is.”
Erickson, a former political contributor to both CNN and Fox News, currently has his own radio show and online column.
He rose to prominence in movement conservatism when he became editor-in-chief of RedState in 2005. In the past, he has claimed Pete Buttigieg believes Jesus was OK with bestiality and that pro-LGBTQ bills would “force Christian small businesses to provide their goods and services to support sexual orientation and transgenderism.”
In the 2016 election, Erickson was a vocal critic of Donald Trump and claimed he would never vote for him. By the 2020 election, however, Erickson changed his tune and announced his plans to vote for Trump, stating, “At this point, I’m not sure I have a choice to go anywhere else.”
