Fox News’s White House correspondent Peter Doocy thanked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki for her time as press secretary and said that he was “sorry to see [her] go” at the press briefing yesterday, just moments after she announced that she would be leaving her job.
“Thank you, Jen,” Doocy said. “Sorry to see you go.”

“Are you?” Psaki asked, getting laughs from the other reporters.

“Yes,” Doocy replied. “And you’ve always been a good sport.”
“Thank you,” Psaki said. “As have you.”
Doocy added that he “can’t wait to see you up there, Karine,” referring to out White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who will be replacing Psaki as press secretary.

Doocy spent the past year asking Psaki accusatory questions often based on bizarre rightwing conspiracy theories, and Psaki earned a reputation for effortlessly clapping back at Doocy.
Psaki recently said in an interview that she doesn’t hold it against Doocy, explaining that his employer requires him to ask questions that “might make anyone sound like a stupid son of a b***h.”
Psaki announced yesterday at the start of the White House press briefing that she would be leaving her job on May 13 and that Jean-Pierre will be taking over for her, which will make her the first LGBTQ person to be White House press secretary and the first Black woman.
During the 2020 presidential campaign, Jean-Pierre served as Kamala Harris’s chief of staff, making her the first Black person to serve as chief of staff to a vice-presidential candidate and one of the highest-ranking LGBTQ people in the Biden/Harris campaign.
“Karine Jean-Pierre is a brilliant communicator and person of tremendous intelligence, humor and poise, skills that will serve her and our country well in her new role.
