Daniel Lewkow is going “a little stir crazy.”
A Portland, Oregon, native, Lewkow has been under lockdown for a month and he’s put his extra time to good use. He’s recreated Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” move by move – with appropriate social distancing, of course.

“It was the perfect thing to do during lockdown,” Lewkow told LGBTQ Nation. “Fun and physical and creative. Gave me a nice break from my routine.”

“I’ve been a long-time fan of Robyn and have always wanted to learn this dance. But I also picked it because I can do it on my own, don’t need props or backup dancers, and it’s easier to learn of you’re a beginner.”
“It took me about three weeks,” he added. “I watched YouTube tutorials that broke it down, and Robyn’s video to learn some of the nuances, like when exactly she touches her face or bobs her head.”
Lewkow, who is working from home, says he’s made it through the weeks by video chatting with friends, working out and “arguing with my husband about whether Carole Baskin killed her husband.”
Does he have any advice for others who are quarantined?
“Use social distancing to take up that long-delayed project!” he says. “For instance, you can call your girlfriend. It’s time to have the talk. Give your reasons, say it’s not her fault. But you just met somebody new….”
He posted two versions of his interpretation online, a solo version and a side-by-side comparison of the two. Either way, he’s dancing alone.
