It’s no secret that transgender children are more likely to thrive when they have supportive parents. What makes the video compelling is recognizing that the positive, affirming statements repeated by the children stand in such stark contrast to what they hear from their classmates, community, and the media.

The video comes from The Scene, and is inspired by their viral video featuring fathers guiding their daughters through similar affirmations.

“In our last ‘Affirmations’ video, we asked fathers to give words of encouragement to their daughters,” explains The Scene. “For this video, we asked parents to give affirmations to their transgender children. #ProtectTransKids”

Grab the tissues and try a few out on yourself.
