April 2oth is upon us and that means it’s Give OUT Day, billed as the national day of giving for the LGBTQ community.
The 24-hour-long online fundraising event seeks to unite the LGBTQ community across America, by raising critically needed funds to support hundreds of nonprofits serving and advocating for our causes for civil rights and equality, against a backdrop of threats, lies and half promises from the Trump administration and Republican-led state legislatures.
At press time, more than $218,000 has been raised with a little more than ten hours remaining.
On the event website, those who can give can find a portal to a long list of worthy organizations and causes, such as the National Center for Transgender Equality, BiNetUSA, The Trevor Project, PFLAG, The Audre Lorde Project, SAGE, Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund, Human Rights Campaign, Pride at Work and Lambda Legal.
There are smaller, more regional outfits in need of your help, too, such as Southerners on New Ground, the New York City Anti-Violence Project and Freedom Oklahoma.
Now is the time. You can make a difference. And it only takes a few clicks.
