Today is the annual Transgender Day of Visibility, often noted on social media as #TDOV — a day to show your support for the trans community, whether you’re a member or an ally.
The idea is to shine a light on the accomplishments of trans people around the world, to combat cissexism and transphobia, and to spread awareness of the trans community.
Unlike the Transgender Day of Remembrance, this isn’t a day for mourning: this is a day of empowerment, recognition, and love.
There are lots of ways to engage today: in person, online and in your own mind. Come out to a friend, or even a stranger, as YouTuber Maia Monet did in her latest video.

Or just write about what you’re feeling. You can keep it to yourself if you feel most comfortable doing that, but ideally this is a day to stand up and be counted, and we would love to share your stories with readers at LGBTQ Nation.
Send an email to LGBTQ Nation: [email protected] or add your story in the comments below. You can also tweet us or post a comment on Facebook. And later, we’ll select some of those sent to us to share with all of you.
