Fast-food chain Chick-fil-A — embroiled in a controversy last year surrounding the millions of dollars it donated in 2009 and 2010 to anti-gay organizations — almost doubled it’s charitable donations to anti-gay groups in 2011, according to newly released IRS documents.

Corkins pleads guilty in Family Research Council shooting

WASHINGTON -- A Virginia man pleaded guilty Wednesday to wounding a security guard at the headquarters of a conservative Christian lobbying group, a shooting that made headlines in part because the man was carrying 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches.

Campus Pride executive director Shane Windmeyer revealed Monday that he and Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy are now friends, and explains that his organization has suspended its campaign against the anti-gay chicken company — which has franchises on many university campuses. But Windmeyer fails to actually explain any concrete changes taking place at the company -- Chick-fil-A is not ending the bulk of its anti-gay giving, Chick-fil-A is not implementing any LGBT-inclusive policies like nondiscrimination protections, and Dan Cathy is not apologizing for his vitriolic comments.

CHICAGO, IL -- Chicago Alderman Proco "Joe" Moreno is again threatening to block Chick-fil-A from building a restaurant in his ward after reports published on Friday signaled that promises made by Chick-fil-A executives to him and a local LGBT advocacy group (that the company was going to cease financial support of several noted anti-gay organizations) were nullified by Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy.

Mike Huckabee: Chick-fil-A’s reversal on anti-gay donations is ‘not true’

Days after a local LGBT rights advocacy group and a Chicago alderman announced that Chick-fil-A had agreed to end donations to anti-gay organizations and end discrimination based on sexual orientation throughout the company, conservative former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee announced on his website Friday that those claims are not true.

Following intense skepticism after news broke late Tuesday that Chick-fil-A will no longer donate to anti-gay organizations and a new report in the The Advocate renewing concerns about its giving policies, the company has issued a document that it says “thoroughly” outlines the company’s policy. However, the statement seems to have done little to convince LGBT activists that its policies have changed.

CHICAGO -- After months of negotiations with Chicago Alderman Proco “Joe” Moreno over its anti-gay positions and donations, Chick-fil-A has agreed to cease donations from its non-profit charity to anti-gay organizations and issued a company-wide internal mandate calling for the equal treatment of all employees and customers, the alderman said.
