White House commemorates World AIDS Day with Presidential Proclamation
President Barack Obama on Friday issued the following Presidential Proclamation in advance of World AIDS Day on Monday, an annual observance to raise awareness and commemorate those who have lost their lives to one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history.

Puerto Rico partners on U.S. project to develop HIV vaccine
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Puerto Rico’s governor says the island’s largest public university is partnering with federal agencies to oversee a U.S.-funded project aimed at trying to develop a prophylactic vaccine for the HIV virus that causes AIDS.

New York City reports three cases of meningitis in HIV-positive gay men
NEW YORK — New York City’s Health Department says it’s investigating three cases of meningitis that have developed in HIV-positive gay men over the last two weeks. The department says Friday it’s recommending meningitis vaccinations for all men who regularly have intimate contact with other men. It says men with HIV are at a greater risk of acquiring meningitis.
