Details are emerging from Tyler Boebert’s crime spree earlier this week. Tyler Boebert, 18, is the son of anti-LGBTQ+ extremist Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO). He was arrested and faces five felony charges and several misdemeanor charges.

Police say that he led several minors in the crime spree, which included stealing from a woman with a brain tumor and only $75 “left to her name.”

Tyler Boebert and the teenagers he was with allegedly broke into several parked cars on February 19 and 20 in Rifle, Colorado. They took credit cards and wallets. They then tried to use the cards at a Kum & Go in Rifle and a Love’s Travel Stop in Parachute, Colorado.

They were caught on video at the Love’s Travel Shop, and Tyler Boebert was wearing a gray hoodie that said “Shooters Grill” on the back and “Grit and Glory” on the front. Shooters Grill is the gun-themed restaurant his parents owned until it shut down in 2022. That hoodie helped investigators identify Tyler Boebert.

“When the male in the grey hoodie turned around, video shows the back of the hoodie read ‘Shooter’s Grill’ with what appeared to look like one revolver on each side of the title,” the affidavit states.

They also tried to make a $717 purchase at Shein’s online store with a stolen credit card, but the purchase was denied.

One of the victims told police that she has a brain tumor. She said that Tyler Boebert and his friends stole $75 in cash from her, which was the only money she had left.

Investigators believe that Tyler Boebert committed the crimes with two underage boys and one underage girl. Police say that one of the suspects accused Tyler Boebert of making a “sex tape” with the girl. The video was then allegedly sent around to others.

“Nobody wanted to use the stolen card,” one of the suspects allegedly told the police. Police said the suspect was present when the group used the card at Love’s Travel Shop.

The arrest warrant says that law enforcement officers spoke with Tyler Boebert on February 27 at his family’s house. He initially said that he “could not remember clearly” where he was on the nights of February 19 and 20.

“When [police] asked Tyler if he knew any of his friends’ names, he stated he did not,” the affidavit states. “But when [police] brought them up, he confirmed they were with him.”

He admitted to being with the others and was arrested on the spot, the affidavit states. He faces four felony counts of criminal possession of ID documents and one felony count of conspiracy to commit a felony. He also faces fifteen misdemeanor and petty charges.

He appeared in virtual court for a hearing yesterday, wearing a black and white striped jail jumpsuit. The prosecutor said that Rep. Boebert listened in on the virtual hearing.

“I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn’t ask for,” Rep. Boebert said in a statement. “It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track.”

Tyler Boebert’s father, Jayson Boebert, blamed COVID-19, the media, and “influences from all angles.”

“With the constant bombardment of information and influences from all angles, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and uncertain about the best way to guide your children. The challenges we have experienced, especially in the last few years, with schools being shut down, social shut downs, and the depression that was set in from a mismanaged COVID SHUT DOWN,” he said in a statement to Westword. “Despite our best efforts, we will fall short sometimes. As a parent balancing work, family, and personal life while striving to be a good role model for your kids can be incredibly demanding. Moreover, the spotlight of today’s media can magnify and distort even the smallest aspects of your life.”

“It’s disheartening to see your actions or words misrepresented and sensationalized, painting a false picture for the public. These distortions do not only create tension within your family, but also affect your reputation and relationships outside of the home. As a father navigating this complex landscape, it is crucial to stay true to your values, communicate openly with your loved ones, and remember that perfection is unattainable. Striving for honest and genuine connections with your children and keeping them on the right path, despite the challenges and external pressures, is what truly matters in the end.”

Tyler Boebert is himself a father, having had a child with a younger girl when he was 17. Jayson Boebert said that when Tyler Boebert called him from prison, he wanted to check on his infant son Josiah.

Rep. Boebert has railed against President Joe Biden for having a son, Hunter Biden, who is currently facing multiple charges related to alleged tax evasion and firearms violations.

“The Biden Crime Family will go down as the most corrupt political family in American history,” she posted to X just before her own son was arrested.
