Unnamed women in recently unsealed court filings alleged that Dershowitz forced a minor girl to have sex with him several times “on private planes, in New York, New Mexico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.” Two other unnamed women also claimed Dershowitz witnessed other girls being abused.

Dershowitz denied the accusations and addressed why he was listed on the flight logs of Epstein's private jet, stating, “Of course I’m on that [flight] list. I was his lawyer. I flew on his plane… I had an innocent relationship with [Epstein] who I didn’t know — nobody suspected — had done anything wrong.”

President Ndayishimiye was speaking with reporters when he went into an anti-LGBTQ+ rant, calling homosexuality a "curse to the country."

“I think that if we find these kinds of people in Burundi, it is better to take them to a stadium and stone them, and that cannot be a sin,” he said. 

A rhinestoned guitar

Country music star Dolly Parton has gifted a custom rhinestoned and autographed acoustic guitar to Brigitte Bandit, a nonbinary drag performer in Austin, Texas who made headlines in 2023 for protesting her home state’s drag ban. Bandit has previously performed as Dolly Parton at live shows.

Parton learned of Bandit's existence after Rebecca Seaver, the creative production coordinator at Dolly Parton Enterprises, saw a photo of Bandit carrying a children’s book about Parton while protesting Texas’s drag ban at the state capitol in 2023. Seaver sent the photo to Parton, and Parton sent the guitar to Bandit.

Uganda

Biden issued a proclamation at the end of December 2023 that said Uganda's government "has engaged in gross violations of internationally recognized human rights," which included last year's Anti-Homosexuality Act, which bans even identifying as LGBTQ+ and institutes the death penalty for being gay.

As a result, he kicked Uganda and several other countries out of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which allows participating countries to export certain products to the U.S. duty-free to help promote economic development.

USA Boxing

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) wrote on X that the new policy means USA Boxing is “going to allow men to beat women up in a boxing ring,” even though the policy doesn’t involve men competing at all. She called it “pathetic and disgusting,” despite the fact that the policy makes it incredibly difficult for trans women to participate in women’s competitions.

Rightwingers on X have claimed that Dylan Butler, the 17-year-old Perry High School shooter who injured five people before killing one person and themselves, had a rainbow flag and he/they pronouns on their now-defunct TikTok account.

Furthermore, Butler may have identified as gender fluid or transgender, based on their past social media activity. However, while rightwingers also claimed that Butler and several other recent mass shooters have been negatively influenced by their trans and nonbinary gender identities, the vast majority of shootings are committed by cisgender people.

Maura Healey (MA)

Out Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (the nation's first out lesbian governor) has proposed legislation to grant LGBTQ+ military veterans coverage for in-vitro fertilization (IVF), something the federal Veterans Administration (VA) only allows for heterosexual couples. A hearing on the proposal is set to be held this month before the Joint Committee on Veteran and Federal Affairs.

Libs of TikTok

Facebook temporarily suspended hate influencer Chaya Raichik’s LibsofTikTok account for violating the platform's community standards. However, Facebook reinstated the account by Sunday and made no public statement explaining its decisions. LibsofTikTok has been connected to numerous death threats against educators.

“Stand with parents, not perverts"

The quote is in reference to the GOP’s so-called “parent’s rights” movement, which strives to remove LGBTQ+ books from schools. Christian Ziegler and his wife, Bridget Ziegler, continue to experience fallout from the rape allegations against Christian Ziegler, as well as Bridget Ziegler’s admission that she engaged in sexual relations with another woman. Ziegler is the co-founder of an anti-LGBTQ+ hate group.
