Facebook temporarily suspended the anti-LGBTQ+ LibsofTikTok account for violating “community standards,” according to the account’s owner, Chaya Raichik.

On Saturday, the account posted a screenshot of a message from “The Facebook Team” stating, “The Page Libs of Tik Tok has been disabled for going against our Community Standards. You cannot visit the Page and you won’t be able to add new people to the Page.” The message also linked to Facebook’s user policies.

Raichik reposted the screenshot on her personal X account and wrote, “The censorship is going to get a lot worse.” Raichik and other conservatives regularly accuse large social media companies of being biased against right-wing viewpoints to discourage site moderators from enforcing policy.

Facebook had reinstated the account by Sunday. The company didn’t make any public statement explaining the accounts suspension or reinstatement.

In a subsequent post, Raichik wrote, “Every day I’m grateful to [X owner] Elon [Musk] for what he’s done for free speech. No matter how many platforms censor and ban, we will always have X where we can tell the truth.” In yet another post, Rachik wrote, “Buckle up for extreme censorship from big tech heading into the elections. They think we’re stupid. Thanks again @elonmusk for giving us a free speech platform!”

Under Musk, X (formerly Twitter) has allowed anti-LGBTQ+ content to flourish. Such content has made millions of dollars for the platform.

Raichik, whose tweets referring to LGBTQ+ people as child mutilators and “groomers” have led to death threats against numerous schools and children’s hospitals. Facebook suspended the account in 2022 for making a “false claim about gender-affirming surgical procedures that triggered harassment against Boston Children’s Hospital,” The Daily Beast reported.

Raichik has oft-repeated the conservative labeling of LGBTQ+ teachers and their allies as “groomers,” effectively calling them pedophiles. She has said that teachers who mention LGBTQ+ people are “abusive,” that gender nonconformity and LGBTQ+-allyship are both a “mental illness” and that schools are “government-run indoctrination camps” for the LGBTQ+ community.

“[LGBTQ+] people, some of them are literally evil and grooming kids,” Raichik said in one of the previous anonymous interviews she gave before being outed as the account’s operator. “They should not be in schools, they should not be teachers.”

Christina Pushaw, the former press secretary of Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, credited LibsofTikTok with “opening her eyes” to the need for Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which DeSantis signed in March 2022 and expanded last May. Before he signed it, Pushaw said anyone who opposes the law must support pedophilia.

Fox News host Jesse Watters and former host Tucker Carlson have also repeatedly mentioned the account, telling parents that it’s a good way to keep up on what’s happening in schools. Right-wing podcaster Joe Rogan has also promoted the site on his podcast, helping boost the account’s follower count. The site is also repeatedly mentioned in The New York Post, the Federalist, the Post Millennial, and other right-wing media outlets.
