Matt Walsh, Fox News, and Republican Twitter have egg on their face after they all took a bisexual comedian’s wry take on one of her dates seriously.
Madi Hart claimed she felt “the feminism leave my body” after a “guy’s guy” bought her a drink, and conservative media lapped it up. They thought she was serious.

Far-right anti-LGBTQ+ personality Walsh kicked things off by highlighting her video and trying to use it as an opportunity to say that women really just want a man to take care of them.

“He’s analyzing my video and he’s like, ‘yeah, she’s willing to give up feminism when she gets her drinks paid for, but does she have the fortitude to give up feminism and cook and clean for her man and get in the kitchen?'” she laughs in a follow-up video she made. “I was like, I don’t know, Matt Walsh, it was a joke. I haven’t thought that far ahead.”
From Walsh’s podcast, the topic spread to social media.
“Everybody all day on Republican Twitter is debating this video of mine. None of them really realized that I’m kidding,” she pointed out.
She also highlighted some of her favorite over-the-top media stories published about her satirical video. Then she points out the Fox News piece that ran and spurred a phone call from her long-estranged conservative dad.
“We have not spoken on the phone in about six months,” she laughs. “He calls me saying, ‘Oh my god, Madi. I’m so proud. You’re on Fox News.'”
But Hart says the outlet effectively outed her to her extended family. While she talks in her videos about being bisexual, she isn’t out to all the members of her family. But she took it in stride, saying, “They all saw the clip because they all watch Fox News every night. So that is also how I came out to my entire extended family. Via Fox News.”
