A Canadian police department showed LGBTQ+ Pride after towing a car with an anti-gay bumper sticker.
Last month, the Ottawa Police Service’s Traffic and Enforcement Unit shared images of a beaten-up white car on X. According to CTV News, officers had pulled the vehicle’s driver over for a long list of traffic violations which made the car unfit to drive.

This ain’t Brokeback Mountain. The lyrics are incredibly explicit.
“The list was long with this one…no license, no insurance, fail to display two plates, fail to surrender permit, no horn, improper muffler, no parking brake…pretty much an all-round unfit vehicle,” the unit’s X post read. “And a dash of ignorance for good measure.”

That “ignorance” came courtesy of a bumper sticker on the car’s rear. Ottawa police posted a photo of the sticker, which read, “Only gay cops give me tickets.”
“Well, as it turns out…” the Traffic and Enforcement Unit’s post read.
Alongside photos of the bumper sticker and the car’s mangled front, the post also featured a picture of the Ottawa Police Service badge against a background of purple flowers above rainbow stripes.
It remains unclear whether any of the officers who stopped the car were members of the LGBTQ+ community, but X users certainly seemed to think that was what the OPS post was implying.
