Fox News hosts are disappointed that the mainstream media has focused more on former President Donald Trump’s white-supremacist rhetoric than on weekend reports of a gay congressional aide making an explicit video in a U.S. Senate hearing room.

Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) has already fired the aide allegedly shown in the video, and Capitol Police has promised to investigate for possible criminal charges, basically concluding the scandalous incident for now. Unsurprisingly, social media commenters continue to joke about it.

Trump accused undocumented immigrants of “poisoning the blood of our country” at his New Hampshire political rally last Friday. The media highlighted his comment as spokespeople for President Joe Biden compared Trump’s rhetoric to infamous “fascists” and “white supremacists” like Adolph Hitler.

By Saturday morning, Fox & Friends co-host Will Cain complained, “The mainstream media is going to talk about this. They already are. It’s going to take over everything… We’re going to latch on to three words that Donald Trump said, and it’s going to drive the news cycle.”

Instead, Cain said that the media should focus not on the anti-immigrant words of the next likely Republican presidential candidate, but on the “concrete actions” of a now-fired Senate aide whom many people had never even heard of until last weekend.

“I think it should be a big deal that we’re talking about what happened in the Senate hearing chamber,” Cain said. “It’s things that actually happened. You can see it on video in the Senate hearing room.”

While the mainstream media has arguably moved on from the Senate hearing room video, social media hasn’t.
