As House Republicans continue to not choose a new speaker of the House despite controlling a majority of the chamber, people are getting a closer look at the chamber’s happenings since usually the speaker’s office heavily restricts photographers on the House floor.

And one picture captured a lot of people’s imaginations.

Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and George Santos (R-NY) – both strong supporters of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) for speaker – were caught in a photo by Getty sitting next to each other, laughing, as the House voted for their speaker. Jordan didn’t get a majority in this vote – 20 Republicans voted for other random people while all the Democrats voted for Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) – so another vote will be held later today.

The picture of two of the best-known – and widely despised by liberals for their extreme policy positions, personal scandals, criminal histories, and aggressive language about Democrats and marginalized populations – House Republicans sitting next to each other and laughing was just too funny for some people. On X, people compared them to Boris and Natasha, Janis and Damian from Mean Girls, Jessie and James from the Pokemon cartoons, and other iconic duos.

“There’s no more iconic combo than a messy queen and a psychopathic hot girl,” one person commented.
