Millionaire Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) ranted that she doesn’t want to buy “big name brands” anymore because they’re “sexually targeting children” by selling LGBTQ+ Pride merchandise, and she’s getting mocked for claiming that she’ll “save a fortune” on brand-name clothes after spending $100,000 on chapstick.

Greene was reacting to a Pride Month brand partnership between The North Face and outdoorsy drag queen Pattie Gonia. Pattie Gonia posted an Instagram video to announce The North Face’s “Summer of Pride” event.

“We’re here to invite you to come out… in nature with us!” Pattie Gonia says in the video while wearing a rainbow skirt in a forest. The video is rather innocuous – there were no sexual jokes, foul language, or nudity, but it has received numerous hateful comments from people saying they’re not going to buy from The North Face anymore.

“Big name brands sexually targeting children makes me want to buy all generic brand clothing now,” Greene wrote about the video that did not mention children or show any children at all. “Besides.. we can save a fortune NOT wasting money on labels that are grooming our children.”

She added the hashtag #BoycottGroomers, an accusation that LGBTQ+ people are child sex abusers.

Yesterday, Greene faced criticism for paying $100,000 for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) used chapstick in an auction. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said that it was “wild” that Republicans were “doing this insane chapstick shit while the country teeters on default.”

People pointed out that the Congresswoman from Georgia – who was born into a wealthy family and has claimed a net worth of $11 million – was unlikely to give up name-brand clothes when she is willing to spend so much on chapstick.

Greene was mad at The North Face just after she tweeted angrily about the LA Dodgers, who invited the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence back to their Pride Night earlier this week.

“American Christians need to stop tolerating this evil,” she wrote on her personal account. “Protect your children. They are coming for them.”
