Hate preacher says if he finds out Dr. Pepper is a woman then he’ll stop drinking it

In between dropping slurs at his sermon, Pastor Tommy McMurtry of the Liberty Baptist Church in Rock Falls, Illinois said that he would give up Dr. Pepper if he found out that the doctor was a woman.

McMurtry was discussing trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney’s 50-second Instagram video that enraged the far-right, where she showed off some custom cans of Bud Light that had her face on them. The cans were not available at stores; they were just sent to her.

If his social media posts are true, McMurtry doesn’t drink alcohol. But that didn’t stop him from being emotionally invested in Bud Light’s social media partnerships.

“It’s 2023 and this tr**ny stuff is everywhere,” McMurtry said. “And it’s absolutely revolting.”

“I’ve always hated the Bud Light company, but you know what, it’s felt pretty good this past watching them lose billions of dollars. I hope they die financially,” he said. There is no reason to believe that Bud Light or Anheuser-Busch InBev has lost “billions of dollars” over the brew-haha.

“I can’t imagine a straight man drinking Bud Light right now,” McMurtry continued. “There is not a drink out there… You all know how much I like Ghost [Energy Drink]? They put a tr**ny on their can, I’ll be cured. Done.”

And then he got to Dr. Pepper and realized that “Dr.” is a gender-neutral honorific.

“I don’t care. Dr. Pepper? You know whatever, if Dr. Pepper turns out this whole time was a woman – I always thought it was a guy – I’ll quit drinking it, right there,” he said.

Some people pointed out that, no matter Dr. Pepper’s gender, they’re a queer-friendly health care practitioner.

McMurtry has a history of extreme anti-LGBTQ+ statements. He once said that “homos” should be “put in their place: six feet under.”

He was also a speaker at a “Make America Straight Again” hate rally in Orlando that was held on the third anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting.
