A queer couple was recently accosted inside a Miami Starbucks by a woman accusing the pair of assaulting children simply because they are part of the LGBTQ+ community.

A viral video shows the woman yelling at Cassie Urry and Lorrin Skrbec. She tells them “lesbianism” isn’t okay “because you touch children, you rape children.”

Urry and Skrbec reacted in horror.

“I do not touch children,” one of them can be heard yelling off-camera.

“Yes, because you’re all evil,” the woman retorted.

“You’re evil,” one of them responded. “God doesn’t want you to talk that way to people.”

The woman proceeded to ask if they knew who she worked for and, “Do you know who I am?” She never reveals who she is or who she works for, though. She tells them they should be ashamed of themselves and then asks the manager of Starbucks for their name and business card.

At the end of the video, the Starbucks employees apologize to the couple as the manager intervenes.

In a follow-up video, Urry explained that the couple was not holding hands or expressing any affection when the woman began yelling at them.

“We know better, especially in a place that’s not always accepting of the queer community.”

While the woman ended up being correct about their relationship, Urry continues, it was all based on assumption.

Urry also said the woman had been harassing others before speaking to the couple, saying that all people of color were a “product of the devil” and telling an Asian customer that “the Asian community brought COVID here” to kill everyone and that Asian people were “creations of the devil.”

Skrbec then decided to step in and tell her to stop while Urry recorded, and that’s when the woman turned her vitriol toward them.

“She was not provoked by anybody,” Urry said in the follow-up video, adding that the “Starbucks employees were absolutely incredible to us and did a very good job handling the situation.”

“I’ve come face to face with pretty indirectly silly things,” Urry told Miami’s NBC 6, “like people taking pictures or videos or point us out or things like that — that really you just brush off your shoulder, but this is what I would say was the most direct and in our face that it’s ever been, so both of us were in shock.”

The couple was headed on a cruise vacation and had to leave before the situation was resolved, but the Miami Police did respond to the situation.

“Upon the officer arrival, it appears that the parties had been separated without further incident,” the police said in a statement. “The officer was able to make contact with the female and instructed her to leave the premises and safely crossed her across the street without any other issue.”

A Starbucks statement said, “Behavior like this is not tolerated and this customer is no longer welcome in any of their stores.”
