Today is Bi Visibility Day and across the globe, bisexual people and allies are celebrating.

Several activities are planned for today, so be sure to check out what’s going on in your local area. Niagara Falls, the shared natural wonder that spans America and Canada, will light up in the colors of the bisexual flag tonight to honor the day, for example.

In 2019, now-President Joe Biden responded to a young woman on Twitter who said she still struggled “with being out and proud.” Biden was campaigning for the presidency at the time.

“It’s been 7 years since @JoeBiden came out in favor of marriage equality, and it’s because of him and LGBTQ+ activists that I can be visible. So thank you, I’m proud to be on your team,” she added to her tweet.

“Amy,” Biden responded, “you have nothing to be ashamed of and every reason to be proud. Living open and free is a daily act of bravery — bravery that resides in your heart and in the hearts of LGBTQ people around the world. I’m proud to have you on our team.”
