Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) celebrated Independence Day a day late with a hate-filled rant in which she claimed to speak on behalf of “The American People” and said that “regular Americans” all hate Vice President Kamala Harris, don’t care about the COVID-19 pandemic, want gay and bisexual people to go back into the closet, and are afraid that trans girls will hurt their daughters.
“If you don’t like America or our flag, then get the hell out of our GREAT country & go live in some other shithole Socialist or Communist country that shares your hate for America, our flag, & our God given freedoms,” she wrote.

Greene wrote her “message from America to the Swamp” last night, parroting conspiracy theories, attacking Democratic politicians, and taking care to also denigrate LGBTQ people.

“Your identity is not your sexual preference or what you like to do in the bedroom,” she wrote. She is one of the strongest opponents of the Equality Act in the House, which would add sexual orientation and gender identity to existing federal civil rights laws. She tried to shut down Congress twice to prevent that law from passing.
But Greene didn’t stop with telling LGB people to go back into the closet, she also denounced transgender girls who want to play school sports, calling them “Trans biological men” who don’t belong in “girls/women’s sports.”
“Don’t forget Dem voters have daughters too, and do NOT want biological men beating their girls,” she wrote.

Elsewhere in the rant she claimed that racism is over in the U.S. because “we’ve had a black POTUS, VP woman of color, black members of Congress, and so many successful & wealthy black Americans.”
But she doesn’t have much respect for the “VP woman of color” or “black members of Congress,” claiming that “No one likes Kamala” and that she’s a “Big liability for Democrats in 2024.”

Greene also attacked Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who is Black and Muslim, saying that she’s an “ungrateful refugee” who’s “anti-semitic” and “married her brother and broke the law to get him in the country.” Omar has denounced the “absurd and offensive” far-right conspiracy theory that she married her own brother.

Greene claimed that she knows what all Americans think because “Most of the people that I talk to daily are regular Americans.” She said that she too is a “regular American,” even though she comes from a wealthy family in Georgia and worked for years as the CFO of the contracting company her father started, Taylor Commercial.
