Tomorrow is Gay Uncles Day and we have everything you need to know to make sure your #Guncles feel super special because, well, they are.
“Virtually every family had that relative, often an uncle, who spent his life as a ‘confirmed bachelor,'” Hatter said. “‘Oh, uncle Johnny will settle down when he finds the right girl…'”
Hatter added, “Families have denied the truth of these gay relatives for centuries. In researching my own family tree, I’ve uncovered a few examples of men who were likely gay, yet have never been acknowledged by the family. They became a dead-end branch on the tree…forgotten in family lore and history.”
Hatter initiated the launch of Gay Uncles Day to combat being overlooked.
“My goal in promoting this day of celebration is to normalize the role of the gay uncle, cousin, brother…whatever, in the family and in society,” he said. “The more visible we are, and the more forthright we and our loved ones are of our very existence, the less uncomfortable society will be with us.”
It’s a tradition that has been embraced since its inception. Who doesn’t want to celebrate their gay uncle?

In observance of the forthcoming “Guncles Day,” I celebrate 3 days early with my latest addition: Oliver Owen Kreisman! He came by our offices at The @MagicCastle yesterday to meet the daytime crew. And I proudly sport the T-shirt he gave me me for my birthday. P.S. He’s lookin’ at his mama! :) #prouduncle #uncle #uncleben #tio #tioben #guncle #guncles #gunclesday #gayunclesday #chosenfamily #family #baby #babies #babyboy #babyboys #babiesofinstagram #babiesofig #cute #cuteness #love #august12 #2018
