Comedian Cassie Workman did a segment about pronouns and misgendering for Tonightly with Tom Ballard, a comedy show in Australia.
Workman talks about how it’s just basic human decency to refer to someone correctly, and basic human decency is a lot more important than someone’s personal crusade to defend a certain understanding of gender.
“We make all kinds of concessions just out of politeness and respect all the time,” she said. “I’ve see people refer to their boats as women and then refuse to call me a woman.”
What has really made this video popular on Facebook – over one million views so far – is the heart that comes with Workman’s comedy. She isn’t just funny, she comes across as authentic.
