Harry Styles’ sexuality has long been a heavily debated mystery, and in an interview with The Sun, he has once again addressed the topic.

Styles, who just launched his solo career amid One Direction’s hiatus, said he has never felt the need to label his sexuality.

“No, I’ve never felt the need to really,” he said. “No.”

“I don’t feel like it’s something I’ve ever felt like I have to explain about myself,” said the singer, who has been romantically linked to Taylor Swift, Kendall Jenner, and Caroline Flack, and is currently said to be dating chef and author Tess Ward.

Styles did not wish to speak about any of them during the interview, but did offer his reaction to Miley Cyrus coming out as pansexual.

“Being in a creative field, it’s important to be progressive,” Styles said. “People doing stuff like that is great.”

“It’s weird for me — everyone should just be who they want to be. It’s tough to justify somebody having to answer to someone else about stuff like that,” he continued.

Styles was rumored to be seeing radio and television host Nick Grimshaw. When asked about that in a 2013 interview with GQ, Styles answered that he hadn’t heard of that rumor, and that he and Grimshaw were “just friends.”

He was then asked directly if he was bisexual.

“Bisexual? Me? I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure I’m not,” he answered.

In 2014, during an interview with One Direction band mate Liam Payne, when asked what they look for in a woman, there was a less guarded moment from Styles.

“Female, that’s a good trait,” Payne said.

“Eh, not that important,” Styles responded.
