An iconic American catalog featured a openly transgender model on its cover for the first time. Spiegel’s, which has been in the mail order clothing business since 1865, put Arisce Wanzer on the cover of its Resort 2017 issue.

The visibility is noteworthy in part because of Spiegel’s broad market appeal. This is not an edgy fashion magazine, it’s a catalog living on the coffee tables of moms across the country.

Wanzer is one of the rising stars featured in the Oxygen series “Strut,” which profiles transgender models working with Slay management. She has also done runway work for New York, Los Angeles and Miami Fashion Week.
