Trump/Putin 2016? Kasich trolls the Trump campaign over ties to Russia

Former Republican presidential candidate John Kasich has pointedly refused to endorse Donald Trump as his party’s nominee. The Ohio governor didn’t attend the Republican National Convention last week even though it was held in his own state. He hasn’t minced words about the dangers of a Trump presidency.

Now the plucky fighter is going one step further. The governor is using what’s left of his campaign money to troll Trump by pointing out his close connections with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

After the Democratic National Committee’s emails servers were hacked by the Russian government and several documents were released right before the party nominated Hillary Clinton as president, top Democrats have claimed it was done as a clumsy attempt by Putin to help Trump’s candidacy. The two men have repeatedly said nice things about each other over the past few months.

“In a bold and visionary move characteristic of everything he does, today terrific billionaire Donald Trump named Russian President Vladimir Putin as his running mate in the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign,” the Kasich campaign said in a news release. They claim the duo’s campaign slogan will be “Make Tyranny Great Again.”

The website, Trump-Putin2016.com, has been overwhelmed with the amount of traffic it’s getting and has been down off and on for most of the day. The campaign was “Paid for with dollars, not rubles, by Kasich for America” according to the site.
