DETROIT — Police in Detroit, Mich., are investigating three potentially related violent crimes against LGBT people in the city’s sprawling Palmer Park.

Palmer-Park-DetroitThe attacks have left one victim dead and two others injured from a series of shootings in recent weeks.

Equality Michigan reports that at least two of the victims are transgender women, and one victim, whose gender identity is not yet public, was killed in the park last Friday.

In that case, it is believed the victim may have been killer’s partner, and that after the murder took place, the perpetrator drove off, crashed into another car and ran away on foot, leaving a gun behind. Police say the victim was shot multiple times in the chest and head.

The shootings of the two transgender women were not fatal, and took place over a two day span the prior weekend.

Police are not releasing any identities of the victims. No one is in custody but police say they have a person of interest.
