Gay candidate’s ad campaign features husband, ‘plan for ‘happily ever after’

Brett Smiley, an openly gay Democratic candidate for for mayor of Providence, R.I., has released a campaign video focusing on how he gets things done, including his “plan for happily ever after.”

The ad, titled “Man with a Plan,” focuses on how Smiley takes the initiative in getting things done and features a re-creation of Smiley on one knee, proposing to his husband Jim DeRentis through a PowerPoint graph that reads “Brett’s plan for happily ever after.”
